What is Coolsculpting and how does it work?

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment for fat reduction. It uses a technology known as cryolipolysis, which means “to break down the fat by freezing it”. Coolsculpting is therefore an exactly controlled fat freezing treatment that triggers the natural death of the unwanted fat cells. These cells are subsequently removed by the body’s normal metabolic processes.

Which areas can be treated?

Almost all areas that are commonly prone to the development of stubborn fat deposits can be treated, such as the tummy, love handles, back, arms, thighs and double chin.

How many treatments are required and how long do the results last?

Normally two treatments are required for each area that needs to be addressed. The results are long lasting as long as body weight is maintained.

How long do the treatments take and are they painful?

Depending on the size of the area treated, each treatment usually takes 35 to 60 minutes to complete. As the cooling effect builds up, the treatment area becomes numb, but it is not painful.

Is Coolsculpting safe?

Yes, it is a safe treatment. The freezing effect is selective and breaks down only the fat cells and does not damage other structures, such as nerves and skin.

Is there any downtime?

No, there is no downtime with Coolsculpting because it is completely non-invasive.

Are there any side effects?

Redness, bruising and swelling are common side effects, which may last a few days to a few weeks.

When can I see results?

Visually significant fat reduction can usually be seen after about two months.

Do I need to go on a diet during a treatment program?

No, you don’t need to go on a diet. The treatment works independently on its own merits and does not rely on simultaneous dieting to achieve its fat reducing effect. However, you should ensure that your body weight is maintained, so that the results will be long lasting.
