Trainings, qualifications and experience
Dr Martin Huang is a fully trained, certified and accredited plastic surgeon. He completed his general medical and plastic surgery training in Singapore and spent a further two years in the U.S. for subspecialty training in the fields of cleft lip and palate surgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery and endoscopic plastic surgery. He has been in practice for more than twenty years, and has been in private practice since 1998.
WHO IS DR MARTIN HUANG?
Dr Huang is a longstanding member of the Singapore Association of Plastic Surgeons (SAPS), the Singapore Society of Cosmetic Surgeons (SSCS), the Chapter of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons of the College of Surgeons, Singapore, the Cleft Lip and palate Association of Singapore (CLAPAS), and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA). He is a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and currently serves as Singapore’s National Secretary in ISAPS. He is also founding board member of the Allergan Asia Council of Breast Esthetics (AACE).
Dr Huang’s main clinical interests are cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body, as well as non-surgical aesthetic treatments for facial enhancement and rejuvenation, fat reduction and body contouring. In the field of reconstructive surgery he specializes in cleft lip and palate repair and craniomaxillofacial trauma.
Over the course of his career, Dr Huang has given numerous presentations as an invited speaker at international plastic surgery meetings in various parts of the world, including South Korea, Japan, China, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Dr Huang is actively involved in professional academic activities. He has published numerous scientific papers in international plastic surgery journals and has won several international academic awards in his career. He has also lectured widely on various plastic surgery subjects.
In particular, he is a sought after speaker and presenter on Asian cosmetic surgery techniques among the international plastic surgery community. He is frequently invited to serve as a faculty and to present and share his expertise and experience in cosmetic surgery of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids and breast at plastic surgery meetings and teaching courses in Korea, Japan, China, South East Asia and the Middle East. He has also served as faculty in various international professional workshops on cosmetic breast surgery and neurotoxin injections.
Due to his dual training in Asia and the U.S., Dr Huang is equally familiar and experienced in operating on and treating both Asian and Caucasian patients, as he is intimately familiar with the important anatomical differences between these two ethnic groups. This is reflected in the patient demographics of his practice. Most of his Asian patients are from Singapore, surrounding South East Asian countries (especially Indonesia), East Asia, North Asia, and India. On the other hand, his Caucasian patients are mainly from Russia and the expatriate community of Singapore (originating from the U.S., U.K., Europe and Australia).
Although Dr Huang is most well known for his work in plastic surgery, his expertise and skills are also in demand for non-invasive treatments and procedures, which form a significant part of his practice. In fact, he has been an industry leader in the local and regional market and was one of the pioneering doctors in Singapore to use neurotoxins, fillers and skin treatments to rejuvenate and enhance the face. He has been actively involved in developing new techniques and applications for neurotoxins and fillers, and has been involved in regional neurotoxin expert meetings, as well as served as faculty in advanced neurotoxin workshops.
Dr Huang is professionally committed to using modern and effective techniques in cosmetic surgery and non-surgical aesthetic treatments in order to achieve optimal outcomes for his patients in terms of quality of results, safety, and cost effectiveness. He has adopted and uses what he considers to effective techniques, equipment, and medical devices from the U.S., Europe, and Korea.
In addition, despite what he has already achieved in his many years of experience, he remains committed to trying to be even better. He is naturally self critical, meticulous and perfectionistic in his ways, and is not easily satisfied with his own work. He continually analyzes and audits his work with the objective of making good techniques even better, with the ultimate goal of achieving an elevated standard of quality and consistency in his results.
Many of his current techniques in plastic surgery and non-invasive aesthetic procedures are the result of what he has learned during his training, his continuing medical education in the course of his professional career, and importantly, his own modifications and refinements of existing techniques to improve them further.
Dr Huang’s longstanding professional goal has always been to deliver optimal results for his patients with a high level of safety. He is passionate about his work and enjoys what he does. He takes great professional pride in the quality of the results he produces. His greatest job satisfaction comes from producing high quality, natural looking results and seeing that his patients are happy with those results. With a strong belief in the importance of listening to his patients, Dr Huang makes it a point to pay attention to their wants and needs. This allows him to understand their goals and expectations, and enables him work better towards meeting those expectations. It is his view that technical excellence, difficult as it is to achieve, is not enough. To achieve a high level of patient satisfaction, a combination of good technical performance and good interactive communication with patients is required.
